CHAPTER 11

Evanora brought the Dire Wolves to her chamber and settled in. “Well, aren’t you two beautiful?” She kneeled down and ran her hands through their thick gray fur.

As they whined and scratched at the collars, Evanora calmed them down. “Shhh… quiet,” she whispered. “Soon enough you will forget all about Petra.”

“Bring them food and water,” she demanded.

Dolog nodded and brought the enormous creatures food and water before leaving Evanora for the night.

Evanora and Mun peered into her orb and watched as the dragon dragged Petra’s friend by her foot and sent Petra and the other witch flying across the cavern.

She laughed as she refilled her cup with the fermented juice and continued watching. The dragon let out a breath of fire, which Petra shielded. “Well, I’ll be dammed! The little bitch has picked up a few tricks of her own,” she stated.

“She is powerful,” Mun answered.

They watched the entire scene. “Oh… that had to have hurt!” Evanora said, regarding the dragon slitting Aria open.

“She’ll be dead soon,” Mun replied.

“What do we have here?” a voice asked.

Evanora and Mun spun in his direction. “What the hell do you want?” Evanora snarled.

“I don’t care what you do with the girls, but Petra is mine,” Arkyn said.

“We have a deal. If I get us out of here, you’re supposed to leave Petra to me!”

“I’ve changed my mind and I’ve decided to take her with me, and then you can fuck off.”

“She’s not getting out of here alive!”

Arkyn stepped toward Evanora, and Mag and Limi lunged. He evaded the attack and pulled his sword. Evanora leapt between them. “Sile! Sile!” she yelled before addressing Arkyn. “They are mine!”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Arkyn laughed aloud. “You want Petra’s mutts? I think Avenolon has put you out of your goddamn mind!”

“Leave me!”

“Ti si luda kuchka,” he rumbled. “If you get in my way, you’re finished,” he added before leaving.

“Get out,” Evanora yelled.

Mun nodded and closed the door behind her.

Evanora lay on her bed and called to the wolves; Magi and Limi hopped up and curled together at the end of the bed. “Good… good, settle in.” I need Arkyn out of my fucking way. There has to be something I can do.
